Lise Kanckos, MSocSc, MTheol, is a PhD student at the Department of Sociology at Åbo Akademi University, in Turku, Finland. In her thesis she analyses debates on assisted reproduction in the
Parliament of Finland, and in particular how Members of Parliament have discussed family values, parenthood
and the best interests of the child. She will
defend her thesis in 2012. Her main research
interests include the sociology of religion,
politics, the family and reproduction.

Mikko Sillfors, MA, is a doctoral student
(from the beginning of 2012) in the Finnish
Graduate School of Theology at the
University of Helsinki and is working on his
doctoral dissertation on new atheism in Finland. He has done research on Western Buddhism, the history of atheism, new atheism and their societal
influences.
